what is cbd isolate

What is CBD?

Curious what CBD is? Well 40% extract of Cannabis is cannabinoid or CBD. It is a phytocannabinoid among the 113 discovered cannabinoids of the plant. It has anti-inflammatory, non-toxic, anti-depression properties. It has effectively treated epilepsy, convulsive disorders, insomnia, stress, anxiety, and neurological diseases. It is also useful in reducing pain without any side effects to the kidneys or liver.

Is CBD legal?

For those who are still unfamiliar with CBD's legal status,  industrial hemp was legalized under the 2018 farm bill. However, the CBD product must be derived from industrial hemp containing less than 0.3 % tetrahydrocannabinol.  CBD is not on the controlled substance list under federal law. If your CBD product is derived from hemp or marijuana with more than 0.3 % THC, it is illegal under federal law.  Thirty-three states of the US have legalized medical marijuana, and 15 states have also legalized the recreational use of Cannabis. Make sure to check your state's Cannabis laws because some states like South Dakota and Idaho have still not legalized CBD.

Types of CBD

Based on legality in different regions, there are three types of CBD oil.
  • Isolate: A pure CBD extract without any other compounds of the cannabis plant.
  • Broad-spectrum: All the nutrients of the cannabis plant except for THC.
  • Full-spectrum: All the nutrients of the cannabis plant.
Let's get into the details of CBD isolate.

How is CBD Isolate made?

CBD Isolate is usually sourced from industrial hemp as it contains a larger ratio of the desired compound. The best method to extract CBD isolate is supercritical carbon dioxide extraction. The process is expensive, but it yields high-quality, clean CBD oil compared to other solvent-based extraction methods. The cannabis oil derived from the CO2 extraction is subjected to winterization, which will remove all plant waxes and lipids. The winterized oil is passed through fractional distillation, which will remove the terpenes, chlorophyll, and other undesirable chemical components. Additionally, it separates CBD oil from other cannabinoids and plant matter. The concentrated CBD is cooled down and obtained in the formed crystalline or powdered form.

How to use CBD Isolate?

CBD isolate is extremely easy to ingest because it can be sprinkled in a salad bowl or added to any other food or beverage. If you want to apply it topically, you can simply be added to your favorite cream or lotion for some additional benefits.  However, remember that CBD isolate is a potent dose because it contains pure CBD without any other cannabinoids or phytonutrients. Make sure to calculate your CBD dose and take it accordingly. If you are not sure about the perfect CBD dose, go for the smallest dose and increase gradually until the optimal dose is reached. It is a perfect option for those who are looking for quick relief from symptoms of several painful and inflammatory health conditions.

Wrap up

CBD is available in different forms, but the most potent type is the CBD isolate, with a potential of 90% cannabinol content. You can use CBD to reduce several health conditions; however, it would be best to consult your healthcare practitioner before taking an unprescribed CBD dose. CBD isolate if often ideal for those:
