CBD is one of the most important chemical components extracted from industrial hemp that is a variant of marijuana or Cannabis Sativa. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol, CBD is non-intoxicating and does not cause any narcotic effects, which is why millions of people around the world prefer it to seek relief from health conditions such as in society depression, cancer pain, and inflammation. However, many people are confused about the right CBD dosage, which could help them in fighting off their health issues. If you are also one of them, here is everything you need to know about it.
What Is The Normal Dose Of CBD?
Most people take CBD between 20 to 40 MG per dose. However, the typical method of finding the correct CBD dose is to start with the minimum possible dose, like 5 to 10mg per day. If it doesn't seem to produce any changes, the dose should be increased by 5 mg per week until the desired effect is produced. However, make sure to remember that different health conditions require different CBD doses, so a single dose may not work for a couple of health issues.
Maintenance: Low dose
Targeted: Mid-range dose
Acute: High dosage
How Weight Affects CBD Dosage?
Research has shown that our weight plays a crucial role in calculating the right CBD dosage for us. CBD has to go through a long way before entering the bloodstream and interacting with the endocannabinoid system. CBD bioavailability also differs by product type making for wide ranges in adoption rates. The speed and turnaround of CBD dose greatly depend on our body weight, which is why it is the first thing to be considered while calculating the right CBD dosage. The absorption distribution and metabolic rate of CBD also vary from person to person, so no universal dose can be suggested that may fit all.
Typical CBD dosage guidelines by weight:
- 50 lbs>: up to 10mg
- 51-100 lbs: 10-20mg
- 101-200 lbs: 15-30mg
- 200+: 20-50mg
The strength and dosage of CBD also vary in different conditions. If you are taking CBD dose for promoting General Health, it would be best to stick to low strength CBD products. However, if you are suffering from health conditions such as cancer, anxiety, Arthritis, or epilepsy, try taking the medium to high strength CBD dose according to your weight.
If you plan on taking a low strength dose, 1 mg per 10 lbs. is recommended. For medium strength, use 3mg per 10 pounds and for high strength, use 6 mg per 10 pounds. Taking an example of the low strength CBD dose, it will take 0.1 mg per pound of the body to reach the optimum dose. Multiply your weights in Pounds by this desired strength, i.e., 0.1 mg, and the result will be your preferred CBD dose per day. You can break it down to take it a few times a day.
Breakdown of typical CBD Oil mL to mg

- 60mL or 2oz CBD oil/ tincture contains 300mg of hemp-derived CBD has 5mg of CBD per 1mL dropper. A look at the math- 300mg/60mL= 5mg/per 1mL dropper.
CBD Overdosing
CBD is generally tolerated very well by the human body, which is why we have not seen any CBD overdosing cases. The body's exact reaction against the higher dose of CBD depends upon individual body chemistry and CBD tolerance. CBD can cause mild Side Effects such as fatigue, nausea, drowsiness, and weight and appetite changes. However, mostly these side effects fade off quickly by themselves and do not require any treatment. If they are persistent, just quit taking CBD for some time or lower the dose.
